their senior colleague. ANR in turn thanked the fans and guests
for their love and affection. Later, he left for Annapurna
Studios to take part in the launch of Naga Chaitanya's debut
film at Annapurna Studios.
Women protest against Raksha
Activists of some prime women groups in Hyderabad took to
agitation against Ram Goapl Varma presented latest film Raksha
(about black magic). They held dharna in front of the theatre
showing the film and sought the management to stop the
screening. The leaders said that it was heinous on the part of
Varma to promote superstitions like black magic when the
society is fast advancing. Such films would only result in the
backwardness of the society. They warned that they would
intensify their protest. Raksha is the free Telugu version of
Hindi Phoonk.

Ashta Chemma prints doubled
Ashta Chemma film was released with 17 prints in select
theaters in few cities of AP on 5th of this month. The producer
increased the number of prints to cater to the appetite of
movie lovers of AP as Ashta Chemma generated very good mouth
publicity. The number of shows in Prasads has been increased
from 3 shows to 4 shows from tomorrow. Ashta Chemma was not
released in RTC Crossroads as the producer perceived it to be a
multiplex film. Due to the public demand, Ashta Chemma is going
to release in Sandhya theater (RTC cross roads) in 3rd week
(from tomorrow). The total number of prints will be 35 by
tomorrow.
Maheshwari weds at Tirumala
Granduer marked the wedding of actress Maheshwari with
Jayakrishna, a Hyderabad-based software pro, at hilltop temple
town Tirumala today. The marriage took place at a private
Kalyana mandapam at North mada street. Sridevi, Bony Kapoor, SV
Krishna Reddy, Meena, Sridevi (Manjula daughter), Sangeetha,
Vijaykumar, Majula, Tamil hero Arun Kumar were among the film
personalities who graced the wedding function. Maheshwari is
the daughter o Sridevi's sister.
Nandamuri fans intensify stir
A huge gathering of Nandamuri fans resumed their agitation in
front of Praja Rajyam leader C. Ramachandraiah's residence at
Kadapa for the second day today. They are demanding apology
from CRC for his alleged remarks against Nandamuri family
members that they should better join PRP or float a new party.
The agitating fans made it clear that they would not be
removing from the place till an apology is made. The police
have tried to pacify the crowds and some local fans are engaged
to talks with Ramachandraiah in this regard.
Big welcome to Ashta Chamma unit
Huge crowds greeted the unit of the film Ashta Chamma,
including heroine Swathi and hero Nani, at Raghava theatre in
Khammam. Swathi thanked the audience for their support, making
her debut film a big success. She said she never expected such
a huge response to her. Director Mohan Krishna Indraganti said
that he would continue to do youthful films. Knowing that
Swathi came to the theatre, a number of college girls thronged
the venue and interacted with her, taking autographs.

Vijayshanti caught in mid air
Tension prevailed when the helicopter carrying Telangana
agitation leader and actress Vijayashanti today missed its
landing point and strayed for a while in the air. It happened
when she was on her way to Bhairanpalli in Warangal district to
participate in the Telangana Liberation Day. After circling in
the surroundings of Warangal, finally the helicopter took to
emergency landing at Kadivendi village. The pilot who sensed
